Girl Up

Mondays/ Wednesday

9:00- 9:35

Girl Up is a worldwide UN foundation that helps advocate and raise money for girls in developing countries. The reason for Girl Up is to raise awareness for female struggles and help make a change in females lives around the world. Some of Girl Up’s past accomplishments are when they held an event to raise money to get a girl an education in a developing country. They also held a feminine hygiene drive and donated the products to a local female shelter. Upcoming events for the club are writing letters to representatives about pink tax and holding another feminine hygiene drive. Girl up meets up once a week, and each meeting different topics are discussed and different activities are held. This club benefits students by informing and engaging students about an issue that they most likely don't know about. Girlup is open to anyone, boys, girls, sophomores, and freshmen.

Mock Trial

Ask for more details

Mock Trial is an imitation trial were two teams from different schools compete with each other using pretend cases. The reason for mock trial is to have experience of being in a courtroom, explore career opportunities, and of course to have fun. Past accomplishments for Mock trial include: earning 10th place out of 22 schools which is really good considering it was their first time doing mock trial. Upcoming events are the Mock trial clinic, Mock trial competition, and mock trial luncheon. Each year there is a competition held at the Allen court where schools compete against each other for 3 rounds. Each round is scored on a scale from performance to professionalism and more. Advancements depend on the scores, only the top 5 get to go to nationals. Meetings for mock trial are once or twice every week and the meetings consist of students breaking up the case in order to get a better understanding and build up questions. Mock trial benefits students by letting them engage and interact with students and to help students be more outgoing. Requirements are that people must be passing the classes and like always everyone is welcomed to join.
