Daniel Church is the senior planner for the City of Dallas Planning and Urban Design Department. When he was in school, Daniel was interested in environmental studies and sustainability and the interest didn’t fade when he went to college at the University of California, Berkeley where he got his Master’s Degree for City Planning. Mr. Church works mainly with the urban design which is how the city fits and works together. Urban planning works with open space, buildings, and streets. Tactical Urbanism, making low cost, temporary changes to a sometimes undesirable existing space, is something Daniel works frequently and enjoys. He is working on a project not too far from here on Marilla Street. He is working with the residents around the neighborhood to find a way to make the street more welcoming environment. Daniel hopes to work with City Lab and its students on future projects.
