Jason Roberts works for the non-profit organization, Better Block Foundation, and spoke at our Connect morning assembly at CityLab on Tuesday, September 4. His organization fills the gaps that the city won’t fill. They add things to large cities globally like bike lanes, crosswalks, bus stops and more. Jason works with simple supplies such as kid’s sidewalk paint, white duct tape, and plywood to transform their space. He gets his urban development and inspiration from the streets of New Orleans and Paris. The team uses a CNC Router to cut out easy-to-assemble puzzle pieces out of plywood, which therefore, builds things consequently like park benches, tables, amphitheaters and more. These wooden sculptures enable him, along with his organization, Better Blocks, to construct parks, bike lanes and other wonderful recreations in a cosmopolitan setting.
